Diakonhjemmet Care Services

Diakonhjemmet Care Services provides care and support for older adults living in Diakonveien Omsorg+, Bølgelengden, or one of our four residential care facilities. The organization also operates two daycare centers. Diakonhjemmet Care Services collaborates with the foundation’s other organizations on research projects, student placements and knowledge sharing. Through professional development and research, Diakonhjemmet Care Services strives to improve the quality of care and services and strengthen employee expertise.

Diakonhjemmet Hospital

Diakonhjemmet Hospital serves as the local hospital for three districts in western Oslo, providing services in internal medicine, surgery, mental health care, radiology and laboratory medicine. The hospital also receives patients from a wider geographic area for specialized services, including geriatric psychiatry and hip fracture treatment, and from across Norway for rheumatology and orthopedics.

The hospital is a significant contributor to research, particularly in rheumatology, mental health and psychopharmacology. In 2022, it became a host institution for the Centre for Treatment of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases (REMEDY), in partnership with several national research institutions.

The hospital operates within the framework of Norway's public health system, with a long-term contract with South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority.

VID Specialized University

VID Specialized University is one of Norway’s largest private higher education institutions and a nationally recognized provider of education and research. The university offers approximately 60 programs at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels in fields including health sciences, social sciences, community studies, leadership, diaconia and theology. With campuses across Norway, VID has around 6,000 students and is working toward achieving full university status by 2028.

Diakonova higher vocational school

Diakonova Vocational School offers practical, career-focused higher vocational education across Norway, developed in close alignment with the needs of the labor market.

The school's programs are designed for individuals who have completed upper secondary education, hold relevant vocational qualifications, have general university admissions certification, or can demonstrate equivalent prior learning and work experience.

The school provides higher vocational education in the following fields:

  • Healthcare
  • Leadership and management
  • Logistics
  • Accounting and finance

In addition, the school offers selected Master Craftsperson programs for experienced tradespeople.
